Confirm the scope and timing
Review the proposed service before the appointment and make sure it matches your priorities. Tell the provider if you need the vehicle back by a specific time, if a stain or mark is the main concern, or if the condition has changed since you sent photographs. A consultation is not the same as a confirmed booking. Make sure the price, location requirements, arrival arrangements, and expected time have been agreed so that both sides are planning for the same work.
Prepare the working location
Describe the proposed location accurately: driveway, private garage, shared parking structure, or another permitted space. Confirm access, working room, shelter, and utility arrangements. Obtain any required property permission before the service day. Do not assume that a mobile provider can complete every process at a curbside space or in a poorly lit garage. If circumstances change, contact the provider early so there is time to decide whether a different arrangement is needed.
Remove personal belongings
Empty personal items, valuables, and loose paperwork from the areas being detailed. Make clear which accessories or installed items should stay in place. If child seats need attention, discuss the scope and manufacturer guidance separately rather than assuming they will be removed, cleaned, or reinstalled as part of a normal interior service. Removing clutter also helps reveal the actual condition of seats, mats, storage spaces, and cargo areas before the cleaning plan is finalized.
Share the vehicle’s history
Mention repairs, unusual finishes, wraps, films, existing coatings, damaged switches, loose trim, and any cleaning attempts that did not go as planned. A brief note about these issues is more helpful than waiting until the work is underway. Show the provider your specific concerns at the start if possible. This is also the right time to confirm what may not be removable and how any proposed additional work will be discussed before the scope changes.
Leave time for the handover
Plan a few minutes at the end to review the work and ask about aftercare. Some processes may require drying or product-specific restrictions before normal use, so confirm those details before you schedule your next trip. Keep the agreed care guidance available and ask promptly if something is unclear. A calm handover helps you understand both the improvement and any remaining limitations, making future maintenance appointments easier to plan around the way you actually use the vehicle. Have a preferred contact method ready for any questions during the appointment. A reachable decision-maker is particularly helpful when an initial inspection reveals a concern that changes the recommendation.
